Madrid Agree £170m Hazard Fee With Chelsea - Reports

Reports this evening suggest that Chelsea and Real Madrid may have come to an agreement over a fee for the transfer of Eden Hazard.

Hazard has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge all summer, following a season in which Chelsea finished fifth in the Premier League, failing to qualify for the Champions League.

That cost Antonio Conte his job, with Maurizio Sarri brought in to replace him at the weekend.

Hazard shone at the World Cup in Russia, helping Belgium to the semi-finals and when asked about his future following the tournament, openly admitted that his time at Chelsea could be up.

The Belgian star said: "After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision - if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination."

His preferred destination alluded to an interview he gave prior to that when he stated that the white jersey of Real Madrid was "special".
Sarri has urged Hazard and Thibaut Courtois - also linked with Madrid - to wait to decide their futures until they meet with him personally to discuss his plans for Chelsea.

But Le10Sport are reporting this evening that the Blues and Real may have come to an initial £170million agreement for Hazard, though they remain unsure as to whether that figure is just for Hazard, or includes Courtois too.

Even if a transfer fee had been agreed, there remains a long way to go before there is any more concrete information, with no news on how that fee will be paid, but it is a big development in the story.

Chelsea themselves are hoping to tie up a double deal, with owner Roman Abramovich reportedly travelling to Italy to oversee negotiations for the transfers of Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani to Stamford Bridge from Juventus.
