UNITED'S POGBA A CHAMPION AS FRANCE WALK OVER CROATIA

Paul Pogba has done what very few players can say they have achieved during their career – score a goal in a World Cup final and lift the trophy! The Manchester United midfielder netted a stunning third goal for France in the second half of their pulsating 4-2 victory over Croatia in Sunday’s final in Moscow, following up his initial blocked shot with a rasping effort from the edge of the box which flew past Croatia keeper Danijel SubaÅ¡ić. It was our no.6’s first goal of the tournament and he left it for the biggest occasion. Paul also became the first United player to score in a World Cup final and the first Premier League player to net in the showpiece event since Emmanuel Petit, once of Arsenal, when France were last crowned world champions as the host nation in 1998. Earlier in the game, Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic headed Antoine Griezmann’s free-kick into his own net, but Ivan Perisic’s fine finish levelled matters for Croatia 10 minutes later. However, Griezmann’s c...

MANDZUKIC AND PERISIC ERRORS MAKES FRANCE WORLD CHAMPIONS

Didier Deschamps' side repeated the success on home soil at France '98 by a margin that hardly looked possible as Croatia stood toe-to-toe with the favourites for an hour. France's victory meant Deschamps, who captained them 20 years ago, became just the third man to win the competition as a player and coach. Croatia also felt their luck deserted them, but ultimately France ran out victorious to erase the memories of the loss to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final in Paris. In one of the most exciting World Cup finals of the modern era, played out to a soundtrack of thunder, Croatia and France delivered an enthralling spectacle that brought the highest goal tally in a final since 1966, a pitch invasion, and a controversial intervention from the video assistant referee that had a huge influence on the outcome. France took the lead after 18 minutes when Antoine Griezmann's free-kick deflected in off Mario Mandzukic's head - but Croatia were by far the better ...

LUKAKU WORLD BEST STRIKER NOT KANE - MARTINEZ

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that Romelu Lukaku is the best striker in world football. Martinez first worked with Lukaku at Everton when the striker was just 19 years old and is now his national team boss, with Lukaku having since moved on to Manchester United at club level. The 25-year-old has impressed at this summer's World Cup with Belgium reaching the semi-finals, and ahead of Saturday's third-placed playoff against England, Martinez hailed the Golden Boot contender as the very best in his position. "If you ask me 'is he the best in the world?', yes," Martinez told reporters at his pre-match press conference. "But I am biased. I worked first with him when he was 19 and I've seen an incredible, incredible journey in his career. "His numbers throughout his career are very difficult (to achieve). His biggest attribute is he is a goalscorer and a finisher." Lukaku has failed to score in his last three games f...

Mandzukic Goal Sees Croatia Through

Mario Mandzukic's extra-time strike completed a battling turnaround as Croatia beat England 2-1 in Moscow to reach the World Cup final for the first time in their history. England made an electric start with Kieran Trippier's early goal and for a large period of the game looked good value to book their passage to the final for the first time since 1966, but Croatia somehow battled through their apparent jadedness and tamed the Three Lions, Mandzukic landing the decisive blow.

Messi Made Me Love Football - Pogba

The Frenchman was one of the causes for knocking out the Barcelona star from the World Cup in the Round of 16 stage as his nation won 4-3 on the day.Pogba was one of his country’s best performers, perhaps only being bested by PSG’s Kylian Mbappe who scored a brace and France will now face Uruguay next in the quarter-finals. Perhaps if the former Juventus man keeps up his good form on the biggest international stage he may be able to help his side go all the way. Messi on the other hand may still have one World Cup left in him in the future but there have been rumours that his frustrations have reached a boiling point and he may quit. According to ESPN, Paul said to TyC Sports: “We know that we are playing against probably the best player in the world. For 10 years now I have been watching him, learning from him. “He makes me love football more, always. We want to play against the best, and today we won against the best. I will always be united with him, world class p...

Martial Staying At Man. United

Manchester United fans are convinced Anthony Martial is staying at the club, despite his agent saying he wants to move on. After making a blistering start, the French forward fell out of favour with Jose Mourinho towards the end of last season, especially following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. His time at the club looked certain to come to an end after his agent revealed he wants to leave. However, United fans now think the 22-year-old could be staying following a hint from the club's official Twitter account. The Red Devils were promoting their pre-season tour and uploaded a picture of Anthony Martial celebrating.
