It’s official, William Carvalho has joined Real Betis. The Portuguese midfielder, who was wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Man. Utd. and Inter Milan has joined Real Betis. The 26-year-old midfielder recently terminated his contract with former club Sporting Lisbon, from the Portuguese Liga NOS, after an attack on Lisbon’s training centre in May by a group of ultras. They trashed the centre and attacked players and staff, in violent protest against the club’s chairman, who has since been replaced. In retaliation to the attack, Carvalho, alongside Gelson Martins, Bas Dost, Rui Patricio and others, terminated their contracts, making them available on free transfers. Carvalho was wanted by a number of clubs, yet has agreed a deal to move to Betis. CHELSEA: SARRI & JORGINHO SPOTTED AT STAMFORD BRIDGE AS MOVES NEAR CONCLUSIONS

Chelsea have sacked manager Antonio Conte after two years in charge. The 48-year-old Italian, who returned to pre-season training this week, had one year remaining on his contract. Conte won the Premier League in his first season and the FA Cup in May, but the team finished fifth in the league last season, missing out on Champions League qualification. Ex-Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri is expected to succeed his compatriot at Stamford Bridge. Should Sarri be appointed, he would be Chelsea's ninth full-time manager since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003. Maurizio Sarri has signed a contract to become Chelsea head coach, with Gianfranco Zola as his assistant, according to Sky in Italy. The former Napoli coach signed the deal to take over from Antonio Conte following a two-and-a-half hour meeting with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia at Stamford Bridge on Friday night. Napoli's president revealed Sarri was close to finalising a deal to take over at Chelsea on Wednesday, two days before Conte's sacking was confirmed by the Premier League club. Liverpool have signed Switzerland forward Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City on a five-year deal, after triggering his £13m release clause. The 26-year-old was Stoke's top scorer last season with eight goals as they were relegated from the Premier League. He joined the Potters from Inter Milan in August 2015 for a club record fee of £12m. Shaqiri scored against Serbia at the World Cup as Switzerland reached the last 16, where they lost to Sweden. Mandzukic Goal Sees Croatia Through

Mario Mandzukic's extra-time strike completed a battling turnaround as Croatia beat England 2-1 in Moscow to reach the World Cup final for the first time in their history.
